Skin Resurfacing Gels, Peels & Lotion
ReSurfacing: Glycolic is considered the most effective alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) because of its small molecular structure. Whether used for controlling acne, correcting wrinkles, or to improve the skin's overall appearance, it works best when placed in an aqueous (water-based) gel/lotion/cream. Classified as a keratolytic / exfoliant, it reduces aging signs by increasing the skin's collagen (strength) and glycosaminoglycan (moisture) deposition. In acne prone skin types, it helps to dislodge trapped follicular pore debris. Depending on a pore's size and providing the collagen deposition has had time to increase, it may also minimize the appearance of enlarged pores . Most significantly, it plays a vital role in regulating the cellular turnover and renewal rate, which optimally occurs every 28-32 days in healthy, young skin. Regretfully, the aging process can impede this process, meaning that cells may not complete the cycle for up to 10 weeks. Thanks to modern science, the good news is that skin types of all ages may benefit from skin resurfacing treatments. Acclimatization: When an active Resurfacing Formula is first applied to the skin, a mild tingling sensation may be felt by some people.
